Qualifications

• 1+ year of billing or accounting experience.
• Prior law firm or professional services billing experience preferred.
• Experience with Elite 3E and electronic billing platforms preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of legal billing processes and accounts receivable.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete billing cycle for assigned attorneys.
• Prepare, review, process, and distribute client invoices.
• Upload invoices through electronic billing portals.
• Research and resolve complex billing questions and client inquiries.
• Analyze billing and accounts receivable activity and process adjustments.
• Maintain client and matter records, including special fee arrangements and billing rates.
• Review engagement letters and implement client-specific billing requirements.
• Provide billing support to attorneys and internal staff.
• Maintain billing documentation and electronic records.
• Assist with special projects and additional billing responsibilities.

Legal Billing Specialist

Mostly Remote | Herndon, VA (One on-site day per month near Herndon, VA)

Soni's client in the legal services industry is seeking two Legal Billing Specialists to support its billing team during a critical period of growth and transition. This role is ideal for experienced legal billing professionals who can quickly take ownership of attorney billing portfolios while delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. There is potential for permanent employment based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities of the Legal Billing Specialist:

• Manage the complete billing cycle for assigned attorneys
• Prepare, review, process, and distribute client invoices
• Upload invoices through electronic billing (eBilling) portals
• Research and resolve complex billing questions, discrepancies, and client inquiries
• Analyze billing and accounts receivable activity and process necessary adjustments
• Maintain client and matter records, including special fee arrangements and billing rates
• Review engagement letters and implement client-specific billing requirements
• Provide billing support and guidance to attorneys and internal staff
• Maintain billing documentation and support electronic recordkeeping
• Assist with special projects and additional billing responsibilities as needed

Requirements of the Legal Billing Specialist:

• 1+ year of billing or accounting experience required
• Prior law firm or professional services billing experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Elite 3E and electronic billing platforms preferred
• Bachelor's degree preferred

Compensation:

$30–$35/hour
