This role is ideal for a collaborative leader with strong experience in legal billing, client accounting, and team management within a law firm or professional services environment.

Overview

The Client Account Manager will oversee billing and client account activities, develop and mentor staff, ensure compliance with client billing requirements, and drive process improvements. This position serves as a key financial partner to attorneys and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Client Account Specialists
• Partner with attorneys on billing, collections, and client account matters
• Oversee invoice preparation, review, and timely distribution
• Manage month-end billing, WIP, and critical billing deadlines
• Resolve complex billing inquiries and support alternative billing arrangements
• Collaborate with eBilling, rate management, finance, and pricing teams
• Analyze billing activity and recommend process improvements
• Ensure client accounts comply with firm policies and billing guidelines
• Build strong relationships with attorneys and internal stakeholders
• Support departmental and finance-related initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of progressive legal billing, client accounting, collections, or financial operations experience
• Law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of legal billing, eBilling, collections, and client account management
• Experience with Aderant or comparable legal financial systems preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• High level of professionalism and discretion with confidential financial information
