  • Must be licensed with New Mexico Racing Commission.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh jockeys out and in, and ensure that riders carry the correct assigned weight.
  • Records all over weights and reports all infractions to the Stewards.
  • Ensures all over weights are announced publicly and posted.
  • Must ensure that scales have been certified to be accurate by a reputable company or governmental agency prior to the start of the race meet.
  • Check scales for accuracy every race day.
  • Maintain accurate scale sheets for each race.
  • Must Assist Room custodian as necessary.
  • Must have thorough knowledge and understand the New Mexico rules of Racing.
  • Must perform other duties as assigned.
  • This job will not have supervisory responsibilities.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set:

SUPERViSORY RESPONSiBiLiTiES

This job will not have supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKiLLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required. Ability to speak and understand Spanish is an asset.

REASONiNG ABiLiTY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
