Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Cleared Senior/Principal R&D Systems Engineer and Project Lead to drive development of advanced RF/microwave special communications systems for national security applications.

Lead a multidisciplinary team, define system requirements, conduct trade studies, and guide design reviews from concept through fielded capability. DOE Q clearance or equivalent is required; relocation provided for qualifying candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience or equivalent.
• Active DOE Q security clearance or equivalent (e.g. DOW Top Secret).
• Graduate degree in Engineering or related field is preferred.
• Experience with high-rigor projects and DoD/DoW/NNSA sponsorship is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and listen to a multidisciplinary team of engineers and subject-matter experts.
• Define and manage system requirements, architectures, and interfaces; conduct trade studies.
• Guide design reviews, verification, and release documentation for fielded products.
• Plan and lead integration, test, and field-test activities.
• Mentor staff and help grow the department's systems engineering capabilities.
• Provide status updates to management and external partners.
