Job summary

SMX seeks a Data Science Consultant to support its Army client, designing data solutions with Databricks and Palantir Foundry to meet business requirements. You will modify data models, define test cases, build data models from ERP datasets, and translate business needs into technical specs.

The role requires DoD experience, a secret clearance, and strong cross-functional collaboration. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of hands-on development, proficiency in SQL/Python/PySpark, and familiarity

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on development experience.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and PySpark.
• Experience in data engineering, data science and data analytics.
• Familiarity with Databricks.
• Familiarity with database design and architecture; relational and non-relational databases.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and participate in discussions.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture: AWS/Azure.
• Competence with software engineering tools and processes (estimation, issue tracking, version control, debugging, etc.).
• Proven ability to work independently on assigned tasks without supervision.
• Proven experience in knowledge sharing (code reviews, solid documentation).
• Driven, self-directed personality.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions using Databricks (SQL, Python, Pyspark) and Palantir Foundry to deliver capabilities meeting business functional requirements.
• Design modifications to existing data model solutions as needed.
• Define test cases and verify test results to ensure solutions are functioning as designed.
• Build data models and reports using datasets from ERPs and legacy systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and users to determine reporting requirements and convert business requirements into technical specifications.
