Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Personnel Security Specialist to own day-to-day personnel security operations, manage clearances and access requests, and maintain government-system records. You will coordinate visits and briefings, support onboarding/offboarding, and guide employees through sensitive requirements with discretion.

The role requires hands-on security experience in a cleared environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to improve processes while protecting personal information.

Qualifications

• Experience in personnel security for cleared environments.
• Ability to manage intake, processing, and onboarding for clearance programs.
• Familiarity with government security systems and records management.

Responsibilities

• Own daily personnel security workload from intake to completion.
• Process eligibility, access nominations, onboarding and debriefings.
• Maintain audit-ready records in DISS, NBIS/eApp and related systems.
• Guide employees through forms and security requirements with discretion.
• Coordinate actions with government reps and internal partners.
• Prepare visit authorizations and related access packages.
• Identify discrepancies and escalate sensitive issues promptly.
• Maintain visibility into case ownership, deadlines, and dependencies.
• Improve SOPs, templates, metrics, and workflows.
• Support inspections, reviews, and scalable program efforts.
