Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a hands-on Personnel Security Specialist to manage day-to-day personnel security operations enabling classified government work. You will handle intake, clearance verifications, visits, onboarding/offboarding, and briefings while maintaining sensitive information with discretion.

The role requires experience in cleared environments, familiarity with DISS/NBIS/eApp, and the ability to improve processes and reduce backlog.

Qualifications

• Hands-on personnel security experience in cleared environments.
• Experience with clearance verification, indoctrinations, onboarding/offboarding.
• Familiarity with DISS and NBIS/eApp; other systems are a plus.
• Knowledge of NISPOM and government/customer security requirements.
• Strong organizational skills with high-volume case management.
• Ability to explain complex requirements clearly and with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Own daily personnel security workload from intake through completion, including clearance verification and visits.
• Process and track personnel eligibility, classified access, indoctrinations, debriefings, and approvals.
• Maintain audit-ready records in DISS, NBIS/eApp, NISS, and internal systems.
• Guide employees through security forms and requirements while protecting sensitive information.
• Coordinate actions with government security representatives, customers, and internal partners.
• Prepare and manage visit authorizations and access packages (CAC/NIPR/SIPR/SAAR).
• Identify discrepancies, aging cases, and reportable information; escalate as needed.
• Maintain visibility into case ownership, status, deadlines, and dependencies.
• Develop checklists, SOPs, templates, metrics, and workflows to improve reliability.
• Support inspections, reviews, and scalable personnel security programs.
