Job summary

As the Nanofab safety officer, you will oversee cleanroom and laboratory safety, chemical handling, and gas monitoring systems, write SOPs and reports, and train researchers on safety protocols and equipment operation. You will report to the cleanroom manager and assist in installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cleanroom equipment on campus.

This on-site role requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field, and involves collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or related field.
• Experience with lab safety systems and chemical handling.
• Ability to work with professors, researchers, students and staff across departments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lab safety systems including hazardous gas monitoring, chemical handling, alarms, PPE.
• Respond to emergency alarms and situations during and outside of normal hours.
• Provide lab user safety training and enforce compliance with safety practices and protocols.
• Review material requests, write reports and recommendations.
• Coordinate with Environmental Health and Safety on safety concerns.
