Job summary

The University of Utah’s Utah Nanofab seeks an experienced Cleanroom Manager to provide engineering, scientific, and operational leadership for its world-class micro- and nanofabrication facility on the Salt Lake City campus. The role oversees day-to-day cleanroom operations, training, safety, budgeting, and strategic planning to enable cutting-edge research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience managing a shared cleanroom facility or equivalent environment.
• Strong leadership, budgeting, and scheduling skills.
• Experience with facility infrastructure (air handling, process gases, DI water, vacuum).

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering, scientific, and operational leadership for the cleanroom.
• Develop strategic plans for equipment acquisition and facility upgrades.
• Oversee budgeting, billing, procurement, and cost recovery.
• Mentor engineers and technicians across multiple disciplines.
• Collaborate with faculty to advance research initiatives and process flows.
