Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a Cleanroom Safety Officer/Process Engineer to oversee lab safety, chemical handling and gas monitoring. The role includes developing SOPs, training researchers, and assisting in installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of cleanroom equipment on campus.

The position reports to the cleanroom manager and requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or related field. On-site campus work with collaboration across EH&S and facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or biochemistry or related field.
• Experience with lab safety, chemical handling and gas monitoring.
• Ability to train researchers and enforce safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lab safety systems and respond to alarms and incidents.
• Manage chemical and gas inventory, labeling, and handling.
• Support maintenance of cleanroom equipment and infrastructure.
• Coordinate with EH&S and facilities for safety and maintenance tasks.
