Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or related field.
• Experience with lab safety practices and enforcing safety protocols.
• Ability to train researchers on safety procedures and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for lab safety systems including hazardous gas monitoring, chemical handling, alarms, PPE, etc.
• Provide lab user safety training and ensure compliance with safety practices and protocols.
• Review and evaluate and approve new material requests, write reports and recommendations.
• Work with University Environmental Health and Safety on safety concerns.
• Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and risks.
• Maintain safety data sheets and protocols.
