Job summary

Blackfield Associates is partnering with a global pharmaceutical manufacturer to recruit a Cleanroom Construction Lead for an Indiana-based 12-month contract. You will provide field leadership and oversee cleanroom construction activities in a GMP-regulated environment.

Key responsibilities include monitoring installations, conducting inspections, coordinating with MEP, and ensuring timely turnover readiness. Strong communication with project teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting cleanroom or controlled environment construction on GMP-regulated projects.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom architectural systems (walls, ceilings, flooring, airlocks, doors, sealants).
  • Strong understanding of controlled environment construction requirements and GMP standards.
  • Experience with construction inspections, quality verification, punch lists, and turnover activities.
  • Familiarity with IBC, OSHA, and GMP regulations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management with contractors and project teams.
  • Experience delivering cleanroom systems through construction, commissioning, and handover.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field leadership and technical oversight for cleanroom construction activities in line with drawings, specifications, GMP requirements, and project standards.
  • Monitor installation of cleanroom finishes and environment envelope components to verify design compliance.
  • Conduct field inspections and verifications to ensure construction aligns with approved documentation.
  • Review contractor inspection records and quality documentation to support commissioning and turnover.
  • Monitor progress against installation plans and milestones, escalate schedule risks.
  • Identify and elevate installation deviations, quality issues, and GMP risks.
  • Oversee field conditions including housekeeping and access controls to maintain standards.
  • Coordinate interfaces between cleanroom construction and MEP, process, fire protection, automation, IT.
  • Review RFIs and technical queries to ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Lead walkdowns, inspections, punch lists, and turnover readiness reviews.
  • Verify completion and accuracy of turnover docs including as-built drawings.
  • Provide regular updates on construction progress and readiness to project leadership.
