Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador to keep public spaces clean, friendly, and safe in the assigned zone. You’ll interact with passersby, provide directions, and perform litter removal with a rolling cart. Must maintain a positive demeanor and report daily tasks in English.

This role offers weekly pay, pay advances, benefits, PTO, and free uniforms, with a culture that values service and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Weekend availability required.
• Must be able to interact with pedestrians in a friendly, professional manner.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning tasks in the assigned zone with a positive demeanor.
• Greet pedestrians and provide directions or city information.
• Remove litter and graffiti from streets and sidewalks.
• Pull weeds at tree wells and cracks in sidewalks.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and boxes.
• Report safety concerns and complete daily task reports in English.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $17.50 to $17.50 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Payday!)

What You’ll Be Doing :

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal — While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
