Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador to maintain city spaces, focusing on cleanliness, safety, and a friendly street-level presence. You will perform cleaning duties in assigned zones, greet pedestrians, and help with directions and information.

Weekend availability is REQUIRED. Weekly pay with pay advance, benefits, PTO, and free uniforms are offered. This is an on-site role suitable for individuals who enjoy outdoor work and community service.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone.
• Engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting to provide directions or information.
• Remove litter and graffiti, and maintain street-level cleanliness.
• Pull weeds and damp-wipe outdoor surfaces.
• Monitor safety and report incidents; complete basic daily task reports in English.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $18.50 to $18.50 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

If you’re outgoing and friendly, and enjoy working outside and meeting new people, we have just the job for you — Cleaning Ambassador. This is also a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors who are looking for their first job.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal — While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
