Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Cleaning Ambassador in San Antonio, TX. The role focuses on maintaining clean, safe public spaces with daily outdoor tasks and community interaction. Weekend availability is required, and a valid driver's license is necessary.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone with a positive, professional demeanor.
• Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings and provide directions or information.
• Remove litter and graffiti from streets, sidewalks, and public spaces.
• Pull weeds at tree wells, cracks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
• Prepare basic daily reports in English.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $15.00to $15.00 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

What You'll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the assigned zone. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.
• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
