Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a Cleaning Ambassador to maintain clean, safe public spaces. The role involves high visibility, outdoor duties, and frequent interaction with pedestrians.

Responsibilities include litter removal, weed control at curbside areas, and reporting daily tasks. Must be 18+, HS/GED, and able to work outdoors in all weather; English Proficiency is required for basic reporting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to walk or stand for eight hours outdoors.
• Must speak, read, and write English for basic reports.
• Experience preferred but training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform street-level cleaning and litter removal.
• Engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting and directions.
• Weed pull at tree wells and sidewalks.
• Damp wipe outdoor surfaces and straighten surfaces.
• Report safety concerns and document daily tasks.

Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Pay Range: $17.50to$17.50 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

Shift/Schedule:

• Sun. - Sat. from 7:00am to 3:30pm

Valid Driver's License PREFERRED

What You'll Be Doing:

• This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of cleaning tasks in the zone assigned. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.


• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.


• Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc.


• Pull weeds that grow at the base of tree wells, in cracks in the sidewalks, and vacant lots.


• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.


• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
