Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Hospitality Ambassador in Knoxville to enhance the public space experience through friendly engagement, litter removal, and surface maintenance. The role requires walking outdoors, reporting conditions, and interacting with the community in English.

Pay is $20.00 per hour with weekly pay and pay advances. Uniforms are provided; health benefits and PTO are part of the offering, and training is provided to new ambassadors.

Qualifications

  • Experience preferred but not required; we will train.
  • Must have a HS Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be physically able to walk and ride a 3-wheeled bike cart for an eight-hour shift.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather; uniforms provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-visibility presence to improve the zone's experience.
  • Greet pedestrians and provide directions or city information.
  • Remove litter and graffiti; straighten outdoor surfaces.
  • Be watchful for unsafe activity and report to Safety Ambassadors.
  • Complete basic daily task reports in English.

Hospitality Ambassador

Pay Range: $20.00 to $20.00 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Pay Day!)

What You'll Be Doing
  • This role will provide a high level of visibility at the street level to carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall experience and appearance of the zone they are assigned to. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
  • Litter removal -- While moving through the zone with a rolling trash can that has supplies/tools, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, and other debris on the streets/sidewalks and alleys. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, etc. Pull weeds.
  • Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes, etc.
  • Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios. Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
