Clayton County EFNEP Program Assistant

Title: Clayton County EFNEP Program Assistant

Department: CAES‑Northwest District CES

Position Summary: This position is located in Clayton County and is responsible for paraprofessional work with County Extension Agents in a food and nutrition education program for limited resource clients. The employee will exhibit qualities of independent judgment and performs work under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, schedule, and conduct nutrition and food safety classes for limited resource clients, including youth and adults.
• Assist the County Extension Agent by researching and providing information requested by clients.
• Develop, organize, conduct, and evaluate education programs for low‑income adults and youth.
• Utilize Outlook calendar to schedule and communicate programs, county events and activities.
• Comply with county funds policy/practices to purchase food demonstration supplies and ensure invoices are documented.
• Submit mileage reimbursement for any shopping/program delivery/training.
• Effectively conduct food preparation activities, including chopping, mixing, slicing, dicing, measuring ingredients, utilizing household kitchen equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of inventory and supplies, coordinate inventory reconciliation.
• Lead activities, discussions and conduct cooking demonstrations for variable audience sizes.
• Respond to challenges associated with space allocation and day‑to‑day operations.
• Ensure food safety in transportation and distribution of food supplies and samples.
• Collect data from class participants via forms or other methods.
• Conduct activities responsive to client needs, including evenings, weekends, and night schedules.
• Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to assist with activities.
• Participate in in‑service staff development, attend required training, comply with UGA/Extension policies, accurately record time.
• Assist with Extension/EFNEP events in the county, support relationships with partner organizations, utilize Microsoft Office Suite and other record‑keeping systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Knowledge of nutrition and food safety for low‑income clients.
• Strong communication and group leadership skills.
• Ability to use basic kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Benefits

Salary: $36,000, commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 am–5 pm with occasional night/weekend events and travel.
