Position Summary

This position is located in Clayton County and is responsible for paraprofessional work with County Extension Agents in a food and nutrition education program for limited resource clients. The employee will exhibit qualities of independent judgment and work under general supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, schedule, and conduct nutrition and food safety classes for limited resource clients, including youth and adults, under supervision of the County Extension Agent.
  • Assist the County Extension Agent by researching and providing information requested by clients.
  • Develop, organize, conduct, and evaluate educational programs for low‑income adults and youth.
  • Utilize Outlook calendar to schedule and communicate programs, county events and activities.
  • Comply with county funds policy/practices to purchase food demonstration supplies, manage invoices, and ensure safe storage of food supplies.
  • Submit mileage reimbursement for any shopping/program delivery/training according to policy.
  • Conduct food preparation activities, including chopping, mixing, slicing, dicing, and measuring ingredients; use basic kitchen equipment; ensure materials ready for presentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of inventory and supplies to minimize waste; coordinate inventory reconciliation.
  • Lead activities, discussions and conduct cooking/demonstrations for variable audience sizes.
  • Respond to challenges associated with space allocation; ensure food safety in transportation and sampling.
  • Collect data from class participants via forms or other methodologies.
  • Participate in in‑service staff development, complete required Extension training, UGA mandated training, and county‑based training.
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to assist with activities.
  • Assist with Extension / EFNEP events in the county; support relationships with organizations; use Microsoft Office Suite and other UGA record‑keeping systems.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: experience in food and nutrition education and working with limited‑resource clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to young people and adults.
  • Strong communication skills and experience interacting with various groups.
  • Ability to lead groups, speak clearly and with sufficient volume.
  • Ability to learn food preparation skills and use kitchen tools safely.
Physical Demands
  • Stand for long periods to present program to attendees.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Speak effectively to audiences.
  • Use kitchen tools: knives, spoons, blenders, choppers.
  • Drive for job‑related duties.
