Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Joint Class Size Assessment Council (JCSAC) paraprofessional assistant to support teachers and students in Priority Schools. Under supervision, you will help in classrooms, supervise lunch/recess, and assist with instructional and clerical tasks.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (TASN/ParaPro). Strong English and arithmetic skills and the ability to engage with students are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or GED) required.
• Must possess a valid paraprofessional license (TASN/ParaPro) from ISBE.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling; basic math skills.
• Familiarity with CPS rules and regulations is preferred.
• Ability to work with and for school-aged children and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of students during lunch and recess.
• Provide security functions by monitoring corridors and verifying IDs.
• Help students understand and complete classroom assignments.
• Assist teachers with bulletin boards and displaying student work.
• Operate photocopying and other educational material production equipment.
• Maintain orderly classrooms and greet/guide visitors.
