Job summary

Cherry Creek Careers is seeking an Instructional Para Educator to support licensed staff by aiding individuals or small groups with basic curriculum work, implementing programming, reinforcing learning, and supporting discipline procedures. You will prepare classroom materials, monitor students, and record achievement, with possible work with behaviorally challenging children.

Under supervision, you will assist in materials prep, group instruction, behavior monitoring, and light clerical work.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
• No professional work experience required.
• Title I assignments: either two years of college, an associate degree, or demonstrated knowledge in reading, writing and math.
• Basic knowledge of office equipment such as phones, copiers, fax, email.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Intermediate English language skills.
• Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work alone and with others.
• Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects.
• Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc.
• Assist students with classroom activities and curriculum delivery in groups.
• Monitor students and reinforce appropriate behavior during activities.
• Perform basic clerical work for the classroom teacher, including typing and filing.
• Assist with other classroom events such as field trips or drills.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
