Job summary

Cherry Creek Schools is seeking an Instructional Para Educator to support licensed staff by assisting individual and small groups with basic curriculum work and reinforcing skills and discipline procedures.

Under supervision, you will prepare classroom materials, monitor students, and help record student achievement. This role may involve working with behaviorally challenging students and supporting field trips and classroom events.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
• No professional work experience required
• Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Intermediate English language skills
• Intermediate oral and written communication skills
• Advanced interpersonal relations skills
• Advanced organizational skills
• Ability to work alone and with others
• Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
• Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc.
• Assist students with classroom activities and curriculum delivery to individuals and small groups.
• Monitor students and reinforce appropriate behavior during activities and transitions.
• Perform basic clerical work for the classroom teacher, including data entry and materials distribution.
• Assist with field trips, drills, and other classroom events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
