Job summary

Poplar Bluff School District seeks an instructional paraprofessional to assist certified staff in the classroom and support students with diverse learning needs.

Under supervision, you will reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction, help with assessments, and assist with daily living activities as needed. Travel between schools may be required; a high school diploma is required and experience with special needs is desirable.

Qualifications

• Assists students with reading, language arts, mathematics and computer instruction.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assists in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Supports classroom preparations and instructional materials for students with diverse needs.
• Maintains records of student progress and behavior as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus duty and playground.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to involve families in education.
• Support students with special needs to maximize inclusion in learning activities.
• Follow safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe classroom.
