Job summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional (Sped Sub/Sep. Aide, Lab Cluster) at Ellis Elementary in Boston, MA.

The role reports to the Principal/Head of School and focuses on supporting teachers to deliver a high-quality education, including direct instruction and material preparation. The position involves classroom setup, behavior management, and potential field trip supervision, with additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• 48 credit hours of college coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on ParaPro or WorkKeys.
• Minimum of two years experience working with young children.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by first day of employment.
• Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree; certification as a teacher or license as a social worker.

Responsibilities

• Supports direct instruction to children individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
• Provides assistance with classroom activities.
• Prepares instructional materials.
• Assists in classroom setup and cleanup.
• Manages individual and classroom behavior, using prescribed approaches.
• Supervises students on field trips.
• Performs other related duties as requested by Head of School/Principal.
