Job summary

Cherry Creek Schools is seeking an Instructional Para Educator to assist students under the direction of a licensed staff member. You will support individuals and small groups with basic curriculum work, reinforce skills, and help with classroom materials and discipline procedures.

This role involves collaboration with teachers, preparing materials, monitoring students, recording achievement, and potentially working with behaviorally challenged children. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
• No professional work experience required.
• Title I assignments must meet one of the prerequisites (e.g., college degree or equivalent, or demonstrated competency).
• Basic knowledge of office equipment (phones, copiers, fax, email).
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Intermediate English language skills.
• Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
• Advanced organizational skills.
• Ability to work alone and with others.
• Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, attendance, etc.
• Assist students with classroom activities in individuals and small groups.
• Monitor students and reinforce appropriate behavior during various activities.
• Perform basic clerical work for the classroom teacher (typing, filing, data entry, etc.).
• Assist with field trips, fire drills, and other events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
