Job summary

The Stratford Public Schools in Stratford, CT, is seeking a Classroom Paraeducator for the STEPS Program at Stratford High School. Hours are 32.5 per week for a full-time, school-year position.

The paraeducator provides individualized support under the direction of the special education teacher, helps implement IEPs and BIPs, collects data on progress, adapts instructional materials, and fosters a positive, inclusive learning environment in collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or Parapro Assessment passing score.
• Ability to lift and assist students with physical and personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Implement behavior intervention plans under the guidance of certified staff.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students, focusing on skill development and behavioral goals.
• Collect and record data on student performance and behavior to monitor progress and adjust strategies as directed.
• Assist with instructional activities, including adapting materials to meet student needs.
• Provide support for students' personal care needs, such as toileting, feeding, and lifting, as required.
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher, behavior specialists, and related service providers to ensure consistent implementation of programs.
• Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
• Foster social interactions and communication skills among students.

Job Description:
The Classroom paraeducator provides individualized support to students under the direction of the special education teacher and tutor. The paraeducator assists in implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized education programs (IEPs) to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth.

Responsibilities:

Schedule and Salary:
This is a full-time, school-year position. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Stratford Public Schools Paraeducator contract.
