Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high school settings. The IA will assist in instructional activities, reinforce skills, and help prepare materials.

Requires a high school diploma; Title I options may require additional coursework or experience. CPI certification may be required; flexibility for after-hours screenings and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six semester hours of coursework in childhood education, OR two years of work experience in a childhood setting.
• CPI certification may be required depending on school.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support and assists teachers in activities.
• Plans and organizes materials; ensures resources align with lesson plans.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills for classroom support.
• Works with individuals or groups in different classrooms as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition and exercises good judgement with students.
• May conduct vision/hearing screenings and enter results into EASi.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
