Job summary

The Classroom Technology Installation Technician at University of California, Berkeley supports teaching and learning by installing, testing, and maintaining a wide range of portable and educational AV/IT equipment in campus classrooms. RTL provides services across instructional spaces and partner with campus IT.

You will interpret blueprints, wire racks, mount displays, and collaborate with Design and Engineering to integrate new instructional technology subsystems while ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Ability to work evenings and nights (start 5pm or later on weekdays).
• Strong knowledge of AV IT installation and field implementation.
• Prompt and effective communication with team, faculty, and campus colleagues.
• Ability to create AV flow diagrams, schematics, and AV infrastructure drawings.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and installing AV/IT equipment.
• Knowledge of PC and Mac computers and commonly used software such as Microsoft Office, AV equipment configuration software, and Google software suite.

Responsibilities

• Executes the installation, testing, and debugging of moderately complex AV/IT systems in classrooms and learning spaces to ensure full system commissioning.
• Collaborates with the Design and Engineering team to integrate new instructional technology subsystems into existing campus IT infrastructures.
• Performs advanced troubleshooting and repair of analog and digital electronic components, control systems, and data transmission systems in instructional spaces.
• Assists in reviewing and estimating schedules and design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, and materials.
• Authors and maintains knowledge base documentation and staff-facing training materials to ensure consistent support and operational efficiency.
