Job summary

Southwest in Henderson, TN seeks a Head Start Classroom Aide to support preschool instruction for up to 20 children and assist the lead teacher in delivering early childhood programs.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, with a preference for a Child Development Associate Credential and experience with preschool children. A background check and screenings are required, with opportunities to advance education and participate in comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Child Development Associate Credential preferred.
• Experience/training in working with preschool children desired.
• Must be willing to continue education.
• Must pass physical exam, TB screen, drug screen, and criminal/fingerprint background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher in carrying out a program of instruction for a pre-school classroom of up to 20 children.
• Serve as Teacher Assistant in absence of regular Teacher Assistant.
• Make home visits.
• Encourage parent involvement.

Purpose

The Head Start Classroom Aide is responsible for the day to day activities necessary for operation of a pre-school type classroom while ensuring program policies and procedures are being met. This position is accountable to the Early Childhood Development Manager.
