Job summary

Southwest is seeking a dedicated early childhood assistant to support a Head Start classroom. You will assist the lead teacher, manage a classroom of up to 20 children, and substitute when needed.

Home visits, parent involvement, and coordination with staff on enrollment are part of the role. HT qualifications are preferred, with the ability to pursue further education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Child Development Associate Credential preferred.
• Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Experience/training working with preschool children desired.
• Must be willing to continue education.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher in carrying out a program of instruction for a preschool classroom of up to 20 children.
• Serve as teacher in absence of regular Teacher.
• Make home visits and encourage parent involvement.
• Work with other staff on enrollment and meeting the needs of families.

Salary: Based on education (Minimum salary $11.94 per hr.)

Basic computer knowledge. Must pass physical exam, drug screen, and criminal/fingerprint background check.
