Job summary

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a Classroom Aide Float to support classroom teachers by implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities. You will help create a positive learning environment while attending to individual needs and following bussing and meal procedures.

Responsibilities include assisting with age‑appropriate activities, maintaining safety and organization, and traveling between BHSC locations as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with children or in a classroom setting preferred.
• Experience with developmental delays/disabilities desirable.
• Must obtain CPI certification and maintain it.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom team in planning and implementing age‑appropriate lessons and activities.
• Collaborate with the classroom team on design and execution of activities.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment.
• Escort children between classrooms according to bus procedures.
• Distribute breakfast/lunch following NYSED, Health Department and OCFS guidelines.
• Attend mandatory meetings, training, and follow employee policies.
• Travel to and between BHSC locations as assigned.

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is looking for Classroom Aides that will make a positive impact in our community!Job Summary: The Classroom Aide Float is responsible for assisting with the management of the children and classroom environment. Duties will include but are not limited to organizing and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, reinforcing educational goals, attending to the individual needs of the children, and following busing and breakfast/lunch program procedures.Essential Functions:Assist the Classroom Team in the production and implementation of age-appropriate lessons and activities.Work as a team member in the classroom design and implementation.Maintain a healthy, safe, and organized classroom environment.Follow the site-specific policies and procedures related to bus duty to safely escort children to and from their classrooms.Follow the site-specific policies and procedures for the distribution of Breakfast/Lunch under the guidelines of NYSED, Health Department and OCFS.Strictly follow the guidelines and codes of conduct for all BHSC staff, which includes all mandatory meetings, training and procedures as stated in the employee handbook.Follow Policies and procedures related to behavior management (CPI).Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.Travel to and between BHSC locations, as assigned.Skills:Ability to obtain and maintain CPI CertificationGood judgementDrive and EnergySensitivityAbility to work well with children and understand their needsAbility to work well with others, including staff and families.Education:Minimum Degree Required: High school diploma/ GEDExperience:Minimum Experience Required: Experience working with children, or in a classroom setting and/or working with children/adults with developmental delays/disabilitiesRequired License/ Registration/ Certification:Incumbent will need to obtain and maintain CPI certification
