Job summary

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a Classroom Aide Float to support the classroom team and help implement developmentally appropriate lessons. You will assist with activities, reinforce educational goals, and attend to the individual needs of children in a safe, organized environment.

The role requires CPI certification and experience with children or developmental delays. You may travel between BHSC locations and participate in bus duty and breakfast/lunch procedures in accordance with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CPI certification may be required.
• Experience with children or in a classroom setting and/or working with children/adults with developmental delays/disabilities.
• Incumbent will need to obtain CPI certification and maintain it.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Work as a team member in classroom design and implementation.
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Escort children to and from classrooms per bus procedures.
• Distribute Breakfast/Lunch following NYSED Health Department and OCFS guidelines.
• Attend mandatory meetings, training and procedures as stated in the employee handbook.
• Travel to and between BHSC locations as assigned.

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is looking for Classroom Aides that will make a positive impact in our community!Job Summary: The Classroom Aide Float is responsible for assisting with the management of the children and classroom environment. Duties will include but are not limited to organizing and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher, reinforcing educational goals, attending to the individual needs of the children, and following busing and breakfast/lunch program procedures.Essential Functions:Assist the Classroom Team in the production and implementation of age-appropriate lessons and activities.Work as a team member in the classroom design and implementation.Maintain a healthy, safe, and organized classroom environment.Follow the site-specific policies and procedures related to bus duty to safely escort children to and from their classrooms.Follow the site-specific policies and procedures for the distribution of Breakfast/Lunch under the guidelines of NYSED, Health Department and OCFS.Strictly follow the guidelines and codes of conduct for all BHSC staff, which includes all mandatory meetings, training and procedures as stated in the employee handbook.Follow Policies and procedures related to behavior management (CPI).Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.Travel to and between BHSC locations, as assigned.Skills:Ability to obtain and maintain CPI CertificationGood judgementDrive and EnergySensitivityAbility to work well with children and understand their needsAbility to work well with others, including staff and families.Education:Minimum Degree Required: High school diploma/ GEDExperience:Minimum Experience Required: Experience working with children, or in a classroom setting and/or working with children/adults with developmental delays/disabilitiesRequired License/ Registration/ Certification:Incumbent will need to obtain and maintain CPI certification
