Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is hiring a Driver for pick-up and delivery between Service Centers and customers in a multi-temperature environment. Starting pay is $28.59 per hour.

You will operate straight trucks, secure freight, perform safety inspections and complete required paperwork. Applicants must have CDL-B with hazmat/tank endorsements, 1 year truck experience or FedEx Driver Dev Course, 21+ years old, and strong customer service and math skills.

Qualifications

• Must have valid commercial driver's license (CDL)-Class B; hazardous materials and tank endorsements required*. Automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed.
• Must have at least one year experience in a straight truck or similar vehicle within the last three years or completed FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• Must be twenty-one (21) years old
• Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Ability to read and understand route schedules
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and other items weighing up to 100 pounds
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member

Responsibilities

• Operate straight trucks.
• Meet delivery schedules while providing friendly, professional customer service and seeking new business.
• Secure freight for pick-up and delivery using pallets, straps and rope.
• Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and follow dispatch instructions.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain records.
• Load/unload cargo and assist with loading/unloading as needed.
• Move freight with forklift, pallet jack or hand truck when required.
• Follow hazmat regulations and ensure placarding matches shipments.
