Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking an entry-level Driver Trainee in Minnesota. You will learn to drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local and over-the-road routes, with a focus on safety and customer service.

You will train under a driver mentor, complete required DOT checks, and progress toward independent deliveries. The role offers company-paid hotels for overnight layovers, a food stipend, and a significant sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• 0-6 months commercial driving experience.
• High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent.
• Valid CDL A license.
• Meet all state licensing/certification requirements.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Clean MVR for past 3 years; pass background checks and drug tests.
• Pass road test and DOT Health Card requirements.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete entry-level driver trainee or dock-to-driver training as required.
• Ride with driver trainer and assist deliveries; follow trainer guidance.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections and safety checks per DOT regulations.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safety policies; report hazards.
• Inspect trailerloads, verify invoices, and secure freight for delivery.
• Deliver customer orders on schedule and unload at designated areas.
• Ensure equipment and freight are secured; manage paperwork accurately.
• Complete daily hours-of-service logs per DOT and company rules.
• Maintain clean tractor, dock area, and trailer; assist with duties as needed.
