Job summary

Maersk in California is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to transport freight to customers and distribution centers. Duties include safe operation of tractor-trailers, loading/unloading, and maintaining logs and records. Pay begins at $30.00 per hour with a Tuesday–Saturday schedule, 8pm start. Candidates must be able to work overtime as needed and speak fluent English.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A license and acceptable driving record required.
• Current DOT medical certification required.
• LTL/City driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and transportation compliance standards.
• Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and commercial motor vehicles in varied driving and weather conditions.
• Ability to accurately complete logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and transportation records.
• Strong customer service, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to safety, cargo security, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work overtime, extended hours, and flexible schedules when required.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers.
• Transport and deliver freight according to routes, schedules, and customer requirements.
• Perform required pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Properly load, secure, inspect, and protect cargo during transit.
• Follow all DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, traffic laws, company policies, and customer-site rules.
• Maintain accurate logs, delivery documents, bills of lading, inspection reports, and other records.
• Communicate with dispatch regarding routes, delays, deliveries, vehicle issues, and changes in operating conditions.
• Safely maneuver vehicles at loading docks, yards, parking areas, and customer locations.
• Promptly report accidents, traffic violations, mechanical problems, cargo damage, and unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a clean and professional vehicle, work area, and appearance.
• Provide courteous and professional service to customers and operational partners.
• Assist with loading and unloading freight when required.
