Job summary

Maersk is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to safely transport freight to customers and distribution centers from Hayward, CA. You will perform comprehensive vehicle inspections, secure cargo, and maintain accurate records while delivering professional service.

Responsibilities include routing per schedules, loading/unloading when required, and strict adherence to DOT regulations. Excellent safety focus and strong communication with dispatch are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A license and acceptable driving record.
• Current DOT medical certification.
• LTL/City driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and transportation compliance standards.
• Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and commercial motor vehicles in varied driving and weather conditions.
• Ability to accurately complete logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and transportation records.
• Strong customer service, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to safety, cargo security, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work overtime, extended hours, and flexible schedules when required.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class A vehicles including tractor-trailers.
• Transport and deliver freight according to routes, schedules, and customer requirements.
• Perform required pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
• Load, secure, inspect, and protect cargo during transit.
• Maintain logs, delivery documents, bills of lading, and inspection reports.
• Communicate with dispatch about routes, delays, and vehicle issues.
• Maneuver vehicles at loading docks, yards, and customer locations.
• Report accidents, traffic violations, and mechanical problems promptly.
• Maintain a clean, professional vehicle and work area.
