Job description

Location

Come and join our team at this 605-room convention center hotel in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City. Our luxury hotel is located next to the Paycom Center (OKC Thunder), the Oklahoma Convention Center and across the street from the 70-acre Scissortail Park.

The property includes an all-day dining outlet (Seltzer's Modern Diner), an entertainment sports bar (OKC Tap House), specialty restaurant (Bob's Steak & Chop House), coffee shop (Park Grounds) and a retail outlet (RareBird Gift Shop). Additionally, guests can enjoy a Mokara Spa, fitness center and a rooftop pool and bar (CatBird Seat) complete with a fire pit, outdoor lawn and cabanas. The hotel offers 76,000 square feet of meeting and event space inclusive of a 20,000 square foot ballroom, 10,000 square foot ballroom, and a 4,200 square foot outdoor pre-function space that overlooks the park.

Job Description

The Omni Oklahoma City Hotel is looking for an experienced full time Class 1 (Experienced) Maintenance Engineer. This person will maintain and repair major pieces of hotel equipment, provide guest service, and be one of the hotel’s First Responders in emergency situations. This role will be a support to the Engineering Supervisor and Engineering team leadership.

Responsibilities

  1. Ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment and components.
  2. Maintain all the Refrigeration, HVAC, Kitchen and Laundry equipment in the building.
  3. Working independently with and around mechanical, thermal, and chemical systems.
  4. Working independently with electrical voltages up to and including 480 volt circuits and controls.
  5. Working independently with all types of refrigerants excluding automotive, RV and ammonia systems.
  6. Working independently around pressurized systems with pressures that can be greater than 400 psi.
  7. Working independently with pumps of varying types, sizes and capacities.
  8. Performing work from ladders up to 12’ high.
  9. Using oxy acetylene torch / welding equipment.
  10. Use of appropriate hand tools such as drills, hammers, knives, wrenches, screwdrivers.
  11. Working in hot and cold environments at times as low as -20 degrees and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  12. Use of personal protective equipment, lockout tag out and all necessary safety equipment.
  13. Understand and be able to work with systems such as the telephone switch, guest and employee Internet networks, guest room door lock system, building automation system and especially the work order system (Synergy).
  14. Ability to work independently in areas where there is a high concentration of specific types of equipment.
  15. Provide technical assistance to other engineers as necessary.
  16. Receive direction from engineering management on daily assignments or projects and complete within the time and manner specified or in accordance with hotel needs.
  17. Receive direction for house calls via radio and respond promptly and appropriately.
  18. Ability to properly prioritize workload in a dynamic environment.
  19. Understand and be able to receive and update work requests from the work request system (Synergy).
  20. Complete appropriate documents and logs for work assigned on a daily basis or as a project.
  21. Embrace all learning and training opportunities.
  22. Maintain inventory and orders all equipment supplies.
  23. Have a thorough understanding of Omni fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
  24. Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotel rules and regulations.
  25. Have a thorough understanding of the importance of Lock out Tag out, the dangers of arc flashes and other precautions that need to be taken around equipment.
  26. Maintain all equipment according to equipment preventive maintenance program.
  27. Make all repairs according to manufacturer specifications.
  28. Understand how to detect trends that indicate developing issues.
  29. Maintain engineering shops.

Qualifications

  1. Excellent customer service skills required.
  2. Prior maintenance/engineering experience required, preferably in a large convention sized hotel.
  3. Thorough working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and refrigeration systems.
  4. Be the knowledgeable “specialist” in at least 2 areas.
  5. Must be familiar with all common guest requests and how to resolve them.
  6. Must understand how to obtain trend information for issues and perform a trend analysis.
  7. Be able to fully understand, read and write in the English language for professional and clear communication with guests.
  8. Must possess at least 2 certifications one of which must be EPA Refrigerant handling certification.
