Job summary

Markel Corporation is seeking a Claim Technician to join our Claims team in the United States. This role provides claims support, processes daily tasks, and ensures service standards are met while maintaining professional relationships with teammates and management.

You will handle incoming claims reports, assist with correspondence, and contribute to process improvements. A strong customer service mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

  • US work authorization required.
  • Insurance experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Proven ability to learn new software and adapt.
  • US work authorization required; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned daily claims support activities timely and accurately according to Markel Service Standards.
  • Including but not limited to; answering claims phone line, taking new reports in a compassionate and professional manner, and formatting correspondence.
  • Maintain understanding of departmental service standards, guidelines, processes and procedures.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiencies and minimize processing and workflow issues.
  • Communicate any ideas with team and management.
  • Work effectively in a team environment to include participation on projects and testing initiatives.
  • Display flexibility to support evolving department and business needs.

The Claim Technician is the foundation of the claims process and as such is responsible for performing support activities that meet (or exceed) expected standard process and productivity guidelines. The Claim Technician is part of a team, and as such, is responsible for maintaining professional and positive rapport with all team members to provide quality support to the Claims Department. The Claims Technician may be called upon by management to assist the Claims organization with various projects or testing initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Complete assigned daily claims support activities timely and accurately (whether as primary or backup role) according to Markel Service Standards.
  • Including but not limited to; answering claims phone line, taking new reports in a compassionate and professional manner, and formatting correspondence.
  • Maintain understanding of departmental service standards, guidelines, processes and procedures.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiencies and minimize processing and workflow issues.
  • Communicate any ideas with team and management.
  • Work effectively in a team environment to include participation on projects and testing initiatives.
  • Display flexibility to support evolving department and business needs.
Job Qualifications:
  • Strong PC skills, especially in Word, Excel, Outlook and paperless working environment.
  • Ability to learn other software required for role.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Self-directed and highly productive with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable with high volume workloads, multiple priorities and productivity standards.
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required, some college is preferred.
  • Insurance experience preferred.
  • US Work Authorization.
  • US Work Authorization required.

Pay information:

The salary range for this position is $18.46 - $38.46. The posted salary range reflects the lowest and highest base salary applicable to this role across our U.S. locations. Individual offers are determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors. As a result, the salary offered for a specific location will fall within a narrower range than the overall range displayed in this posting. This position may also be eligible to participate in the Company's annual incentive plan.
