Job summary

Markel Group seeks a Claims Adjuster to manage moderate complexity Workers' Compensation claims across jurisdictions with escalating responsibility under supervision. You will assess coverage, document decisions, and maintain strong client service while upholding Markel standards.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, an adjuster license, 5+ years claims experience, and solid communication, analytical, and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Handles claims in all jurisdictions
• Handles litigated and non-litigated property damage claims with values up to $250,000
• Handles non-litigated bodily injury claims with values up to $250,000 in all jurisdictions
• Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
• Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions
• Drafts coverage position letters
• Identify losses which should be reported to SIU
• Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages
• Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of insured’s exposure
• Sets reserves within authority or makes recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager
• Participates in special projects or assists other team members as requested
• Represents Markel in mediations, as required
• Provides excellent and professional customer service to insureds while maintaining a high level of production.

The position will have increased responsibility for decision making within their authority and work under general direction from their manager.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Certification

Adjusters’ license or legal license in at least one jurisdiction

Pay information

The salary range for this position is $62,400 - $107,250. The posted salary range reflects the lowest and highest base salary applicable to this role across our U.S. locations. Individual offers are determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors. As a result, the salary offered for a specific location will fall within a narrower range than the overall range displayed in this posting.

This position may also be eligible to participate in the Company's annual incentive plan.
