Sentry Insurance Company is seeking a Claims Co-op in Stevens Point, WI. The role offers part-time hours during the school year and full-time during breaks, with a hybrid work model and this position being based at our Stevens Point location.

You will gain hands-on experience in claims investigations, negotiation, and customer communication. Eligible students pursue a related field and must meet GPA and graduation-date requirements, while developing strong teamwork and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergrad or associate degree in Business, Insurance, Communication, English or related field.
• Minimum GPA 2.7 and expected graduation May 2029–Dec 2029.
• Work up to 20 hours/week during school and up to 40 hours/week on breaks.
• Ability to work in a team and obtain licensing as needed.
• Sentry does not sponsor certain visa types for this program.

Job description

As a Claims Co-op, you’ll practice investigation, evaluation, and communication skills while making real impact. Work part-time during school and full-time over breaks. At Sentry, we realize that getting valuable, hands‑on experience is important for you and your career. We’re looking to recruit UW‑Stevens Point for our Claims Co‑op program. In this program you’ll have the opportunity to work part‑time while attending classes and full‑time during summers. Our co‑op program is designed to provide you the opportunity to gain valuable experience while working in our Stevens Point location.

What You’ll Do

• Gain hands‑on insight into claims negotiations and settlement processes to help reach fair resolutions for customers.
• Stand by customers during stressful times, guiding them through the claims process with genuine care and understanding.
• Review policy details to accurately verify coverage and policy limits for current customers.
• Dive into the details of a loss by gathering facts and reviewing documentation to understand what happened.
• Maintain clear, thorough records of all investigations, communications, and steps taken throughout the claims process.

What it Takes

In order to be eligible for this elite opportunity you must meet the following criteria:

• Pursuing an undergraduate or associate degree in Business, Insurance, Communication, and English or a related field
• Obtain a minimum GPA of 2.7
• Expected graduation date of May 2029 through December 2029
• Ability to work up to 20 hours a week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours a week during breaks
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere
• Obtain required licensing as needed
• Sentry does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience
