Job description

Claims Operations and Service Supervisor

Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association is seeking a Claims Operations and Services Supervisor to lead our Claims Department. We offer comprehensive benefits, a matching 401(k), and a convenient location in Government Center.

The role involves supervising Claims Services staff, coordinating work assignments, monitoring workload, and providing guidance to TPAs, vendors, adjusters, and internal teams. The supervisor will assist in planning and implementing Claims Department functions in collaboration with senior management.

Job Requirements:
  • College degree or 5+ years of claims or underwriting experience
  • Completion of relevant insurance courses
  • Strong supervisory, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential personnel matters and work independently
  • Experience with claims practices and procedures, and learning new systems
Responsibilities:
  • Plan and organize the Claims Administration Unit, including training and development
  • Interview and select candidates for Claims staff
  • Train staff on procedures and systems like Infinity and ImageRight
  • Manage attendance records and conduct performance appraisals
  • Handle disciplinary actions following established guidelines
  • Coordinate workflow processing of claims and supervise quality control
  • Ensure proper filing and documentation within systems
  • Provide support to adjusters, agents, and insureds via phone and email
  • Order supplies and assist with reserve audits
  • Manage after-hours claim escalations
  • Collaborate on system testing, enhancements, and business continuity planning
  • Prepare and conduct staff performance reviews and develop training programs
  • Maintain CAT statistics and workflow documentation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
