Job summary

Markel is seeking an experienced IT leader to own technology strategy, delivery and operations for the Claims organization, including FNOL, adjudication, litigation, recovery and payments. You will lead the Guidewire ClaimCenter platform and accelerate AI and automation to improve outcomes and adjuster productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field; Master’s preferred
• 10+ years in technology, with 5+ years leading multi-team delivery organizations
• Deep claims domain knowledge across the full claim lifecycle
• Proven track record delivering AI, machine learning or intelligent automation in a production business setting
• Strong budgeting, portfolio management and vendor management skills
• Executive-level communication and ability to influence stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Set and carry out a multi-year Claims technology roadmap aligned with Claims business strategy and enterprise IT standards
• Lead dedicated delivery teams—engineering, configuration, business analysis, QA, and vendor/offshore partners
• Own the Guidewire ClaimCenter platform—configuration, integrations, upgrades and cloud migration/adoption
• Oversee integrations across the claims ecosystem—payments, documents, reserving, actuarial feeds, reinsurance and vendors
• Lead AI solutions in Claims— FNOL, document processing, signals, and predictive insights
• Deliver workflow automation and RPA where applicable
• Manage application support, budgets, vendor contracts and system integrator relationships
• Ensure solutions meet architecture, security, data governance and regulatory requirements
