Qualifications

• Two years of education and/or experience after high school in clerical or claims or related field.
• No license or certification required.
• Trainee option not applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review Memo's of Denial and Payment, correct inaccuracies and notify carriers.
• Assist in cost-of-living adjustments calculations to determine eligibility.
• Investigate complex claims and advise parties on rights and responsibilities; liaise with employers, employees, insurers, and lawyers.
• Explain provisions of the law and departmental policies to claimants and others.
• Assist claimants, employers, insurers, attorneys, and healthcare providers in workers' compensation matters.
• Respond to public inquiries about proper handling of workers’ compensation claims and coordinate with carriers.
• Interview and record information from complaints via phone, mail, or in-person.
• Monitor insurance carrier compliance with hearing decisions and recommend penalties when needed.
• Maintain a computer tracking system to follow up with claimants.
