Swift Transportation is seeking a seasoned claims professional to manage bodily injury files, including investigations, evaluations and settlements. You will handle DOT and pre-suit matters with authority limits up to $75,000 for settlements and $50,000 for payments, coordinating with attorneys and experts as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage bodily injury claim files, with/without attorney representation, including investigation, evaluation and settlement.
• Handle DOT and pre-suit bodily injury claims and related litigation as a technical resource.
• Maintain reserve/settlement/payment authorities.
• Investigate, determine liability, negotiate, perform financial analysis and settle claims.
• Coordinate with external parties (attorneys, investigators, vendors) to resolve claims.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, trials and mediations.
• Collaborate with defense counsel on defense strategies and plans.
• Follow claims department processes (diary, reserving, coding, contact).
• Assist others to meet organizational objectives.

Compensation:$75,000 - $94,000 Annual, depending on experience.

Job Responsibilities: What you will do

The management of bodily injury claim files, both with and without attorney representation, including investigation, evaluation, and settlement of assigned claims. This position will handle DOT claims, pre-suit bodily injury claims, and lawsuits serving as a technical resource to team members for complex claim matters. Incumbents have up to $100,000 reserve authority; $75,000 settlement authority and $50,000 payment authority.

• Responsible for the investigation, liability determination, negotiation, financial analysis and settlement of claims.


• Lead and direct external parties (attorneys, investigators, vendors) when necessary to bring about the successful settlement of claims.


• Communicate with internal/external parties (insurance Companies/plaintiff/attorney/adjusters/witness/law enforcement, etc.) to bring about the successful settlement of claims.


• Prepare for and advocate at depositions, trials and mediations for the Company.


• Collaborate regularly with defense counsel to strategize and formulate plans for defense.


• Responsible for following claims department processes and procedures (diary/reserving/coding /contact) in an effort to bring about the appropriate settlement of claims.


• Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

• 5+ years' complex claims experience required.


• Claims experience in transportation industry required.


• Must possess excellent investigative skills with the ability to achieve optimal conflict resolutions.


• Must possess excellent negotiation skills and be able to appropriately influence and persuade others.


• Must be able to analyze complex situations.


• Must possess excellent fact finding skills with ability to gather detailed information.


• Must be able to effectively manage multiple demands.


• Must be able to work independently or in a team environment.


• Bachelors' degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.


• Maintain state licensing where required.


• Successful completion of claims certification schools/classes such as AIC, AEI, ARM, CPCU preferred.
