Erie Insurance is seeking a claims professional to handle liability and property claims under supervision. You will resolve coverage and liability issues in line with state laws, working with policyholders and agents to reach timely resolutions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of related claims handling or customer service experience, or equivalent educational experience.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.
• Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) preferred.
• Obtain appropriate licenses as required by state within 45 days of employment for external applicants and 90 days for internal applicants.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and adjudicates claims within designated authority, ensuring compliance with applicable statutory laws.
• Verifies coverage, establishes reserves, drafts correspondence, and documents claim files.
• Negotiates and evaluates claims, initiates subrogation when appropriate, and processes payments.
• Responds to inquiries from policyholders, agents, carriers and others, maintaining clear communications.
• Keeps knowledge current on liability laws and motor vehicle codes for each state.
