Job summary

The Office of the Attorney General in Tallahassee seeks a Staff Assistant to provide secretarial support in the Bureau of Victim Compensation. You will handle mail, data entry, and document processing to support efficient claims processing.

Responsibilities include background checks, reviewing applications for completeness, and transferring documents into imaging systems. Travel may be required; some extended hours are possible.

Qualifications

• Three years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
• High school diploma or its equivalent with 1 year of secretarial/administrative experience.
• College hours or vocational training can substitute for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming correspondence accurately per procedures.
• Receive, date-stamp, sort, and distribute mail to appropriate staff.
• Perform criminal history background checks using CJIS.
• Review applications and expense docs for completeness; data entry.
• Transfer documents to imaging systems (OnBase/VANext) after data entry.
• Achieve data entry of no less than 100 new claims and 100 expenses monthly.
• Complete special projects within established timeframes.
• Note: position may require extended hours and/or travel.
