PositionSummary

Thispositionwillhaveoverallfieldresponsibilityforassignedprojects,includingmanagementofsubcontractors,coordinationbetweentrades,scheduleexecution,safety,quality,inspections,anddailysiteoperations.TheSuperintendentwillalsodirectlymanagetheCompany'sself-performoperationsthroughtheassignedforeman.Currentself-performscopesincludeearthworkanddemolition,withconcretedemolitionrepresentingasignificantportionofthedemolitionwork.

TheSuperintendentisnotexpectedtoperformtheforeman'sday-to-daycrew-leadrole.TheSuperintendentmustmanagethroughtheforemanbyestablishingtheworkplan,productionexpectations,manpowerandequipmentrequirements,andholdingtheforemanandcrewaccountableforresults.

Thesuccessfulcandidateshouldhaveastrongcivilconstructionbackgroundbutalsobecapableofmanagingtheentireprojectsite.Thisincludessupervisingsubcontractedtradessuchasmasonry,concrete,utilities,electrical,mechanical,andotherbuildingandsitetradesdependingontheproject.

Experiencewithconcreteandsitedemolitionispreferred.

PrimaryResponsibilities
OverallProjectFieldManagement
  • Manageday-to-dayfieldoperationsforassignedproject.
  • Maintainoverallresponsibilityforfieldschedule,safety,quality,coordination,inspections,andsitelogistics.
  • SuperviseandcoordinateCALTECself-performpersonnelandprojectsubcontractors.
  • Coordinatemultipletradesworkingconcurrentlyontheproject.
  • Developandmaintainshort-termfieldschedulesandlook-aheadplans.
  • Identifyupcomingconstraintsandresolvethembeforetheyaffecttheprojectschedule.
  • Coordinatemanpower,equipment,materials,access,inspections,andinformationrequiredforupcomingwork.
  • Conductorparticipateinsubcontractorcoordinationmeetingsandfieldplanningmeetings.
  • MaintaincommunicationwiththeProjectManagerregardingschedule,manpower,cost,changes,inspections,andfieldconditions.
  • Coordinateworkwithowners,inspectors,designprofessionals,utilityrepresentatives,andotherprojectstakeholders.
  • Verifythatsubcontractorsareproperlystaffedandprogressingaccordingtotheprojectschedule.
  • Holdsubcontractorsaccountableforcontractualrequirements,schedulecommitments,safety,quality,andcompletionoftheirwork.
  • Identifyincomplete,deficient,ornonconformingworkandrequiretimelycorrection.
  • Coordinatesequencingbetweentradestopreventconflictsandrework.
  • Maintainanorganized,safe,andproductiveprojectsite.

  • Establishmeasurabledailyandweeklyproductiontargets.
  • Givetheforemanclearproductionobjectivesandworkareas.
  • Monitoractualproductionagainstplannedproduction.
  • Trackexcavation,import,export,backfill,andaggregatequantities.
  • Monitorlaborandequipmentutilization.
  • Identifyproductionconstraintsandadjusttheoperationasnecessary.
  • Coordinatesurvey,staking,elevations,slopes,grades,andcontrolpoints.
  • Coordinatesoilstestingandinspectionrequirements.
  • Verifyliftthickness,moistureconditioning,compaction,andtestingrequirements.

  • Establishproductionexpectationsforthedemolitioncrew.
  • Monitordemolitionquantitiesandprogress.
  • Coordinatedust,silica,noise,debris,andpublic-protectioncontrols.
  • Maintaindocumentationofdisposal,recycling,trucking,andquantitiesremoved.

Previousconcretedemolitionandsitedemolitionexperienceispreferredbutisnotrequiredifthecandidatehasstrongcivilsuperintendentexperience.

ForemanandCrewManagement

TheSuperintendentwillsupervisetheassignedforemanandself-performcrew.
