Job summary

Prince Contracting, LLC is seeking a Senior Construction Supervisor to oversee a designated area of a heavy civil project. You will supervise crews, work with field engineers and subcontractors, ensure compliance with drawings and specifications, and review schedules and budgets.

You will plan methods, coordinate equipment and materials, manage risk and safety programs, document daily activities, and mentor team members.

Qualifications

  • 17+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
  • 12+ years of management experience in construction.
  • Valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive for the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams up to 7 people.
  • Strong reading, interpretation of plans and specs.
  • Leadership and communication skills essential.
  • STS certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Oversees job setup, coordinates with field engineers and utilities to identify hazards.

  • Documents daily activities and maintains safety and process controls.
  • Mentors and supervises subcontractor production and workforce as needed.
  • Oversees project closeout in line with standards and owner checklists.

Job description

  • Supervises work on a designated area of the project. Supports superintendents, field engineering, and estimating to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
  • Plans work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews daily or weekly work schedule with direct reports and updates monthly schedule from project feedback.
  • Reviews and understands the project specifications to oversee job set up activities. Works with work crews, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on job site.
  • Presents production work plan during initial project meeting to ensure all project crews and leaders are in alignment.
  • Coordinates with internal and external teams to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
  • Forecasts the work schedule to identify issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
  • Provides technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety, and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
  • Supports and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements.
  • Involved in all media communications and responsible to maintain community relationships using positive personal and company branding tools.
  • Supervises sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities, as needed.
  • Oversees project close out activities in line with Company standards and Owner checklist requirements.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the project’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplinary actions; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • 17+ years of heavy civil construction experience required, with at least 12+ years management experience in construction required.
  • Valid Driver’s License along with ability to meet criteria to drive on behalf of the company
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage teams of up to 7 people
  • Proven ability to manage complex construction projects using strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage difficult schedules and project demands while maintaining strict adherence to project safety program.
  • Developed expertise in a specialized construction type.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills required.
  • Strong leadership capability with internal drive to mentor and grow internal talent.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Bachelor's Degree a considered a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
