PositionPurpose:
TheVOLLERSConstructionSuperintendentprovidesthefieldleadershipnecessarytoplan,organize,direct,coordinateandcontroldailyjobsiteactivities.Thepositionisresponsibleforexecutingtheworksafely,efficiently,andinaccordancewiththeprojectplans,specifications,schedule,budget,qualitystandards,andcontractualrequirements.
WorkinginpartnershipwithProjectManagementandothermembersoftheoperationsteam,theSuperintendentleadsfieldpersonnelandsubcontractors,coordinatesresources,resolvesoperationalissues,andmaintainsproductiverelationshipswithclientstosupportsuccessfulprojectcompletion.
Responsibilities:
SafetyLeadership
- Ensuresthatpropersafetyplanningisincludedinallpre-jobplanningandconsideredforemostinthedailyoperationsbycreatingandmaintainingacultureinwhicheveryemployeeandsubcontractorisexpectedtoworksafelyandisheldaccountableforsafebehavior.
- Conductrequiredsafetymeetings,pre-taskplanning,andjobhazardanalysis.
- EnsureemployeesandsubcontractorsuserequiredPPEandcomplywithOSHArequirements,site-specificrequirements,andcompanysafetypolicies.
- Promptlyidentify,address,documentandcommunicateunsafeconditions,incidents,nearmisses,andcorrectiveactionincoordinationwiththeSafetyCommittee.
ProjectPlanning&Execution
- Superviseaprojectonyourownandeffectivelycommunicatewiththeclient,projectteams,andotherinternalstakeholders.
- Demonstratetheabilitytomovebetweenprojectsandmanagemultiplecrewsifrequired.
- Createdailyandthree-weekschedulesinaccordancewiththeoverallprojectscheduleandcommunicateexpectationstoappropriatepersonnel.
- Maintaintheappropriateamountoflabortostreamlineprojectcompletioninthemostefficientmannerpossible.
- Planequipmentneeds,ordermaterials,andotherjobsiteresourcestosupportefficientandtimelyexecution.
- Identifyproductivityoroperationalissuesandtakecorrectiveactiontominimizescheduledelaysandcostimpacts.
- Ensuretasksareperformedinaccordancewithapprovedplans,specifications,submittals,permits,contractrequirements,andqualitystandards.
- Willingnesstoparticipateasaworkingmemberofacrewifnecessary.
Cost&ProductivityManagement
- Monitordailyproduction,labor,equipmentutilization,quantities,andjobcostsagainsttheprojectestimate,budget,andschedule.
- ReviewdailyandweeklycostandproductivityreportswiththeSeniorSuperintendent,ProjectManager,orProjectExecutivetoidentifyareasrequiringattention.
- Developandimplementcorrectivemeasureswhenproductionorcostsdonotmeetexpectations.
- Properlycodelabor,materials,trucking,andothercoststosupportaccuratereporting.
- Protectcompanyresourcesbypromotingtheefficientuse,care,andsecurityoflabor,equipment,tools,andmaterials.
ProjectCoordination&Communication
- Representthecompanyprofessionallyinprojectmeetings,ownerorcontractormeetings,andinternalstrategysessions.
- Maintainandbuildeffectiveworkingrelationshipswithclients,owners,inspectors,subcontractors,vendors,fieldpersonnel,andotherprojectstakeholders.
- Responsibleforallprojectsurveylayoutandcompleteas-builtplandataincollaborationwiththeappropriatesurveyandprojectpersonnel.
- Managethefieldaspectsofallsubcontractors,includingsafety,schedule,quality,productivity,andcompliance.
- Coordinaterequiredinspections,testing,permits,anddocumentationwiththeprojectteamandappropriateoutsideparties.
DocumentationandChangeManagement
- Performallprojectinformationreportingasrequired,includingbutnotlimitedtodailyreporting,productionreports,dailycrewschedule,andthree-weeklookaheadschedules,safetydocumentation,materialandtruckingtickets,As-builtinformation,photographs,andothersupportingdocuments.
- IdentifyandmanageT&MandChangeOrderwork.
- Supportpunchlistcompletion,demobilization,turnoverandcloseoutactivities.
ConstructionTechnology&Systems
- UnderstandandimplementGPSandmachinecontrolsystemsasapplicable.
- Effectivelylearnandusecompany’sprojectmanagement,fieldreporting,timecard,scheduling,documentmanagement,andothersystemsasneeded.

- Leadforemanandcrewsbyestablishingclearexpectations,communicatingpriorities,monitoringperformance,andholdingteammembersaccountable.

- Abilitytoreadandunderstandallcivil,structural,andarchitecturalplans,specifications,contractualrequirementsaswellasknowledgeofthematerials,equipment,andtoolsnecessarytocompletethework.
- ProficientinPCsoftwareandsystemssuchasMicrosoftOffice;PDF,Emailing,UsingSpreadSheets,OnlinePlan&DocumentStorage,MicrosoftProject(orotherschedulingplatforms).
