Job summary

Wallace Design Collective offers a Civil Summer Intern role where you’ll work with our civil engineering team on real commercial, educational, healthcare, and land development projects. You’ll gain hands-on experience in site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management using industry-standard tools.

You will be integrated into active project teams, tackle challenging site development tasks, and receive mentorship from seasoned professionals throughout the summer.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master in Civil Engineering.
• Coursework in fluid mechanics, hydrology, or surveying; familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or GIS is a plus.
• Strong analytical problem-solving, eager to learn, proactive in asking questions, and detail-oriented.
• Clear written and verbal communication with a team-first attitude.

Responsibilities

• Site Layout & Civil Drafting: Assist in preparing site development plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Stormwater & Hydrology Design: Model stormwater runoff and size detention systems.
• Grading & Earthwork Analysis: Define finished grades, design retainage systems, evaluate cut/fill balances.
• Permitting & Agency Coordination: Learn local codes, zoning requirements, and environmental permitting.
• Collaboration & Field Visits: Attend intern learning sessions and project team meetings.
